Choices are the Hinges of your Destiny
Back in the day… Can you remember those test sheets to record your answers to the multiple-choice tests? I think they were called scan-tron sheets. On them you usually were given a test question with 5 options (A, B, C, D, or E). Sometimes you were able to just pick the best option to answer and move onto the next questions. Other times, you would be so uncertain of the answer, that you would have to just guess on which answer was the best one for the question. Personally, I tended to overthink and choose one that was completely wrong or I would just choose ‘E” all of the above and hope for the best. Lately, I have been thinking what does that say about me? When I make a choice in life I tend to rely on what I already know, what I have experienced and what the outcome could be if I make certain choices. This train of thought(s), brings in a high level of anxiety, fear and just overthinking of what ifs. I have to consciously make a choice to let go and just make choices that drive my soul to joy. I believe that God puts choices in your life to lead you to pick the best answer. Not always the right answer, just the answer that will lead you to happiness and contentment on being you. I have read so much in the last few weeks on joy and the real joy you can have when you submit yourself – your being – your mind – your heart – your entire self to your spirit. This is a hard task to complete. But it does not have to be. God said: I need you to get excited again. I need you to remember you are not in this thing alone. I’m working on your challenges. I’ve already assigned angels to you. So let go of the stress and just trust Me; I’ve got a pretty incredible ending in store. In fact, that’s why you need to get excited again… because the happy ending I’ve got coming is gong to ROCK YOUR WORLD. My point is, all your choices you have made, you will make and the ones that are made for you are all part of your story. So, just go with it and make the best choice you can at the moment so your soul will be driven with hope for the best. The best is yet to come and the best things in life are the things that are given as presents – unplanned. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” Isaiah 41:10 We need to allow the hinges of our life’s door to be open to allow our souls to follow our Father’s plan for us. It is for God to Know and Me to Find Out
Have you ever thought that you needed to impress someone that you become this totally different person? Maybe it was a job interview, a new friendship or just meeting new people. About 5 years ago, I moved to Salisbury and the opportunities to be someone other than the real me were abundant. I remember specifically thinking that I could make up whom I was before I came here and no one would even know the difference because I was the new kid on the block!
Well, it was deeper than that because I was not untruthful to others, just to myself. It was pretty unsettling or just filled with discontentment. I began doing things that I don’t normally do because I thought it was a “new me”. Don’t get me wrong; most times were fun and exciting, just not me. Or I was doing things for others not myself.
It was not until recently that I came to realize that the most important person I need to be truthful too, is me! It is liberating to say the least. I wake up smiling because I do not hold what others have done to me or the situations that have occurred to take any time away from my day.
This new sense is so powerful, that I have been able to share truth with others and accept others actions with gratitude. I also have been able to not make assumptions of others actions. I have nothing to lose because I do not fear of what is to come.
I truly and whole heartily believe that this transition in my thoughts are from having a clear understanding that I can not change the set time God will deliver what I ask for (or desire), but with contentment and courage within myself, I can change how I want and the way I want.
So I commit to myself the following –
I will seek happiness in all that my journey provides me, I will continue to seek contentment with me, and I will say it straight and with a smile! Most importantly, I will allow my journey to be lead by my faith in what God has in store for me. “For I know the plans I have for you.,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not the harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I understand it is for God to know my story and me to find out.

Surrendering…
that time when you turn the key and allow your life to begin
I have come to realize my daily devotion brings me a connection and peace within myself that is just unexplainable. In fact, trying to describe that feeling doesn’t give it justice. So, I relate it to Our Father’s presence in that time. With that presence I have the absence of fear because I have come to find that the presence of fear is a sure sign that I am trusting in my own strength and not Our Fathers. Why can’t I allow His presence in my sprit ALL the time? Well the answer that comes to mind, is this thing called life!
Yet He never allows His life to interfere with His attention to ours. In my mind, He found or finds time to show up in my life all the time, no matter what’s gong on. So why can’t I find time for Him to be in mine?
Maybe just reminding myself that I can not do things alone. I must include Our Father. When I include Our Father, I Am able to “appreciate myself and honor my soul.” (I quoted that from a tea bag tag. See He presents Himself everywhere.)
Well, when I saw that on a tea bag, I took that as meaning - when we appreciate ourselves we are honoring our soul because God created us and our soul is our spirit that leads us to God.
Furthermore, The story of Abraham comes to mind. Abraham and his wife were trying for years to have children. It was not until Abraham could accept whom God wanted him to be and accept Our Father into his soul. Abraham was able to realize that his own plans of his life need to be guided by God, not what he had in mind for himself. He needed to just allow his soul to follow God’s plan.
So I end my thought with this.. When we look outside of our faith, we begin to get lost in our dreams of “what ifs”, causing us to question who we should be like or thinking too much about what we may need. Surrender to your truth, your purpose, your passion and your God. That will allow your soul to lead you with Our Father, and truly begin living your life to the fullest.
